). Durant cette semaine j’avais pu expérimenter sur un de ses projets personnels,

Le projet se compose à l’origine en une série d’illustrations de masques reprenant des éléments typique des masques traditionnels africains, liés aux traits et aux couleurs des casques sentaï, élément iconique de la pop culture japonaise.
Ainsi, j’ai aidé Faysal dans ses explorations en modélisant en 3D un casque reprenant les principes caractéristiques des illustrations qui composent son projet.

In 2022 I did a one‑week internship with Faysal Boukari (
@kariboucosmic
). During that week I was able to experiment on one of his personal projects,
Lomé Paris Tokyo
.
The project originally consists of a series of mask illustrations that incorporate typical elements of traditional African masks, combined with the shapes and colors of sentai helmets, an iconic element of Japanese pop culture.
I assisted Faysal in his explorations by modeling in 3D a helmet that follows the visual characteristics of his project’s illustrations.
Une semaine étant trop courte, je n’avais jamais pu faire aboutir les visions que m’avait inspiré ce projet. C’est donc en hommage à celui-ci et au temps que j’ai passé avec Faysal que j’ai réalisé cette courte vidéo :
As one week was too short to bring to life all the visions this project had inspired me. I created this short video, as a tribute to it and to the time I spent with Faysal :

Cette courte collaboration autour de Lomé Paris Tokyo m’a permis d’approfondir ma pratique de la 3D en l’appliquant à un projet profondément inpirant. J’en suis très heureux !
